This evening I wanted to have some one sided talk with my
brother, means no arguments, only listening from my side. He was writing
something. I eased myself in front of him. I started, "Tell me something
which is creative, nice, marvellous, brilliant, fruitful etc."
He stared at me &
said," 'Tell me' what?"
"Which is creative…"
"Okay...Okay… actually I was writing some small
stories."
"How small?"
"Up to 2 sentences."
"Interesting…."
"Listen. There was a man named Ernest Hemingway. His friends
challenged him to write a six-word story. He accepted and wrote this story….
"For sale: Baby shoes, never worn."
This story became famous which led Smith Magazine to launch project named Six-Word Memoirs.
Now this trend has grown very beautifully. Today I visited
Quora in search of short stories. I thought there may not be much activity in
that field, but, what I saw was really worth clapping. There was too much crowd in that arena. Also,
I rediscovered that most of the people in the world are not bullshit. Everyone is
creative.
There's a suspense story I got on web,
"The last man on
Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door..."
Written by Fredric Brown for his short film "Knock".
Another version is written by Ron Smith like this,
"The last man on
Earth sat alone in a room. There was a lock on the door..."
This is it. Actually, a week ago I didn't know that there is
a separate world for tiny stories and too many enthusiasts are living in that
world."
"Did you write some stories?" I asked.
"Yes, some bullshit stuff. They are ridiculously
hopeless."
"It's okay. Just narrate them."
"Okay….
While trying to hang
myself after failing in exam, my neighbor increased volume of the song 'Let it go'.
Next one….
There was one more
figure behind me in my selfie photo which I captured alone.
Last one….
He wanted to kill the
beast, but the beauty killed him."
"I didn't understand last one."
"I won't explain either."
Next minute, he handed me his laptop and told me to read
such stories.
'the last man' : other versions.
