Playing for Keeps by R.L. Mathewson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Bad second half almost nullifies the effect of good first half, but then again final few pages are saving grace. This is 'by the book' book. All the characters are overly prejudiced and are the ones we've read about million times. All the men, except the lead and a friend, are perverts, insensitive and a**h**s. All the women, except the protagonist and the Grandma, are skinny, slutty and always hit on the male lead.
Same sentences are used multiple times in various parts of the book to convey same emotions. Not similar sentences, its SAME sentences.
If you want better characters & motivations and emotional depth, better pick up books like The Sea of Tranquility.
Overall the book is not great, not severely bad. It is just OK to like it.
