Energy and time is new god

In the world where many religion and cultures believe in their different gods  but I have to say even though the time is most important of all is not raised to the status of god .Yes I confess that many religion worship energy as their god.Lets see at this particular situation ,time is unidirectional entity which has gone through all the worldly  pleasure and the sorrows and while some times erased some of the history and in some case glorified the stature of some historical events. Now adding the flavor of energy to the context.Energy came from the singularity at time ‘zero’ from which the universe started and evolved or transformed to the ever expanding phenomenon .Even mass is a form of energy that is even we are a form of energy. Not much to my surprise holy scripts say that there is a god in you.Adding energy and time is everything we got in the universe. It is the time that we call luck and energy that is hard work that gives me a job.Whereas miss calculation of these entity may land you up in not getting one job. After telling all this I do believe in  god the singularity and I cannot rule out the possibility of energy and time theory .If energy is life then time is death.
What do you think?

SLAPPED !!

It is unusually the best feeling when you are at the beach ,the sun going down and some people around you who are a complete  stranger to you not interfering your business .Unless it is as unusual day as this one .As i was enjoying the beach view i saw a guy coming towards me ,as he was coming near me unable to think anything else or i wanted his attention i smiled at him and there you go 'bang' a strong slap on my cheek. Now i know he wanted my attention.I was dumbstruck as he crawled away in the sand.Damn bad day i thought some random stranger slapping so hard on face it would be embarrassing to tell this to my mom.To check that guy and teach him a lesson i went to the beach next day.I waited a few hours and from no where the same guy in the same dress came towards me i tried every thing to stop his second slap on my face i could neither catch him and when i yelled at him he simply didn't turn back or cared to the person he just slapped a few seconds before. This thing  continued for few days i was so determined to know who he was but i didn't  see his face still now .restless of these events i dragged my mother towards the beach almost forcefully but she knew i was a lunatic as know one turned out to hit me today.but i knew some one was watching me from far.my unsuccessful attempts to prove his exited was fruitful when i called my friend to the beach today to my surprise as i saw both of them slapped by different people but this time i was happy as i proved their existence .but to my disappointment he did not notice that someone slapped him.yes too much of slapping now.I was hopeless now unable to do anything i stopped going to the beach .Now after the college i was slapped by some men about twice a day now that is after college and after 7:30.But weekends as i was at home they skipped me.so i would give my mother some excuses so that i would not go to school.I got placed to good software company now everyday after work i was slapped by these underworld creepy people.still not sure who they are and how they look i welcomed them open heartedly .but still i am totally confused and for those who are reading this one are you one of my kind. I suggest you to kick that guy out of your life immediately or else you will be one of my kind.

10 Tips for Behaving as a Grown-Up Professional

When you are embarking on a new career or venture, it is a good time for some introspection on your professional foundation. The employee handbook won't dispense all of the protocol needed to ensure you build sound impressions in your new relationships and environment.
What you say, and how you conduct yourself, can trump your work-ethic and innovative ideas. It is frustrating when you feel you are doing everything right on the job but are still unsure where you stand with leaders or clients. Are you viewed as “the total package” or someone with just a few good features?
Use these plays to help solidify your professional relationships and personal brand in the launch of your career transition.
1. Show enthusiasm in what you do but do not over-promise results
2. Ditch the colloquialisms and slang. You want to be professionally mature, not college cool.
3. Stay away from political or religious conversations. You may want to even avoid voicing your position on current events.
4. Before you decorate your cubicle or office ask: how could this be interpreted by a peer, boss or client?
5. Recognize when someone's day is upside down. A business meeting delayed until next week will be more productive than a rushed and distracted meeting today.
6. Don't show up empty-handed when invited to someone's house.
7. No triangle conversations. Don't speak for other people. In conflict, make sure all parties are present when discussing.
8. When upset, detach from emotion before you speak or make a decision. If you are not “wired” this way, discipline yourself. Start training your self-restraint muscle.
9. If someone is good at what they do or has helped you in some way, tell them. We don’t have to wait until the eulogy.
10. Handwritten thank you notes go a long way when someone has helped you.
Before executing your plan to quickly climb the career wall, take a minute to ensure you are fortifying your professional footing. Self awareness is the first step in professionally growing up.

Brutal Lessons From 4 Failed Startups

With thousands of startups worldwide building new products, it’s no wonder 75 percent of them fail. It’s actually a good thing because startup birth and death helps the ecosystem overall. Entrepreneurs can learn as much from mistakes as successes. Poor management, ineffective marketing and team stress are some of the many reasons why companies fail.
“It's either you started making a startup with friends who didn't have complementary skills, or the opposite - people you think have the perfect balance of skills, but then completely different ways of communicating,” says Cassandra Phillips, founder of Failcon, a conference featuring startup founders who failed and share what they learned.
Consider these well-known startups that had great promise. Some were acquired or reached IPO, but never took off. Now each of them are just another statistic.
1. Gowalla. Millions of people enjoyed this location-based social network started in 2007 and shuttered five years later. Multiple problems blocked Gowalla from reaching mass appeal. Foursquarestole the limelight. Checking in was not that user friendly. The company was a mobile web app before smartphone technology was advanced enough to create a positive user experience. Usership and enthusiasm fell as Gowalla shifted focus and removed features.
The startup raised $8.3 million in a venture capital round, but was eventually bought by Facebook for $3 million. Even when your company is acquired, it can fail.
The takeaway: Avoid competing with a giant. If you go against Facebook, you’re facing an uphill battle. Make sure technology can deliver what you promise. You have to wonder how things might have been if Gowalla had debuted recently, as mobile apps have gained traction due to faster phones and more users.
2. Pay By Touch. Even with a long list of investors backing this company that used fingerprints to process payments, Pay By Touch never really got off the ground. Fraud allegations, and board issuesdogged the founder before the company declared bankruptcy in late 2007. Investors were unhappy the founder spent hundreds of millions of dollars buying up rivals, but couldn’t afford to pay employees halfway through the year. It might have failed partly because many people are accustomed to credit/debit cards and like earning travel miles.
The takeaway: Pay By Touch invented a solution for a non-existent problem, one of the most common startup traps. “People think what they are making is cool, sexy or fun, and when they ask friends about it they get answers like ‘Yeah, that's cool,’” said Phillips. “To make a product that is actually used, you need to create something that people realize they can't live without. Easily half of the failed startups I hear from fail for this reason.”
3. RealNames CorporationFounded in 1997, RealNames let users of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer register domain names using the browser address bar. This worked without needing to belong to a top-level domain such as ".com" or ".net.”
The company and its backers raised more than $130 million in funding. RealNames shut down operations in 2002 following a decision by Microsoft to redirect the 1 billion page views per calendar quarter that RealNames resolved from the browser address bar into the MSN search engine.
The takeaway: RealNames depended on the decisions of a giant company for their survival. Don't depend on someone else’s company for the effectiveness and viability of your product.
4. Pets.com. This famous dot-com-era disaster that sold pet care products online only lasted two years, from 1998 to 2000. The company poured millions into marketing campaigns, including a Super Bowl ad. Executives who thought they were tapping into a recession-proof industry discovered the niche pet market didn’t bring in enough money. Pet supplies cost too much to ship. Higher priced items, like toys, couldn’t be offered at competitive rates. Pets.com sales were problematically dependent on discounts that slashed profits.
The takeaway: Be brutally honest with yourself on your progress. “Too many founders fail because they are afraid to ask for help, or don't speak up when they are struggling soon enough,” said Phillips. “I promise things will be three-times easier if you are honest with yourself and those around you. Too few founders are.”

True friend

A girlfriend

I am Arun Kumar, doing my 2nd year engineering and living in a hostel in one of those million engineering colleges in Bangalore. I had just received an SMS with the above text at around midnight. Basically being a barren land when it comes to girls, I was not sure how to react to that message. It was pretty obvious that the message was not intended for me but I didnt want to let go of this opportunity. A thousand questions ran through my mind as I looked at the SMS for the 197th time in 5 minutes. Should I reply saying I am not Rahul? Should I call that number? Should I ignore the message? What if its a fake piece? Damn! I've never strained my brain so much in my life. Finally I decided to temporarily ignore the message. Firstly, I didnt want to portray myself as too desperate by replying immediately, and secondly, it would give me time to think..

After a lot of deliberation, I decided to reply next morning from class. Hi Ankita.. sorry for the late reply.. had slept yesterday.. I am doin great.. wassup with u? Yes, I had done what Madhavan did in Minnale. I knew I was no Maddy in looks, but how would she ever find out through a phone? Nervous and struggling to concentrate in class, I waited for a reply from Ankita. After a wait of around 20 minutes which seemed like an eternity, I received an SMS.

Hey! I am good 2...slept so soon?? I thot guys in IIT hostels dont sleep so early! Anyways, no problems..:).. where r u now? Bunked class? Its been ages since we spoke.. I guess we didnt talk after the school farewell??

IIT. A mini explosion took place in my heart. An IIT engineer? No wonder she had messaged Rahul after a looooong time! But I decided to carry on. Be confident yaar.. confident, I said to myself and replied:

Yeah guys in IIT hostels dont sleep early. But you know I am not one of those nerds ;).. and yeah.. a looong time indeed..madam suddenly became super-busy after school :P

Somehow, my hands automatically made me use smileys. Pretty soon I received a reply and we started exchanging messages at a faster rate.

Ha ha! Me and busy? No way! And you not a nerd eh? Then how did u get to IIT in the first place :P?

Still trying to find out the answer. Even my professors wonder at this. They say shit happens once in a while.. I guess that answers it ;)

LOL. I am literally rolling on the floor and laughing uncontrollably. HAHAHA! came the reply.

Was it that funny? Anyways, a part of me felt proud and happy to have made a girl laugh. The confidence urged me to continue.

Chuck that. Hey btw..wassup with u? What you doin these days?I am sorry I forgot.. you know IIT guys tend to have short term memory loss ;)

Ah..but i thought you were not the typical IIT guy?? :P I am like you.. in the process of wasting 4 years of my life.. I mean I am doing engineering..but not in the IIT! LOL

I had succeeded in my first step - to get some details. But why was she LOL-ing? Whatever. I decided to LOL too. Thought it would sound rude otherwise.

LOL. Yeah I guessed you would be doing engineering.. and Yeah not many people waste their lives in IITs ;) Its reserved for the special (un)lucky ones!

Haha! You are in IIT and you are complaining? But its logical - guys in IIT are never satisfied.. thats why you end up in IIT in the first place!

I went and stood near a mirror. The person from the other end stared back at me and had a million expressions. Some of them being :

* Have you ever seen an IIT campus?

* Have you ever seen an IIT campus?

* Have you ever seen an IIT campus?

* You still have 3 years left.

* You still have 3 years left.

* You still have 3 years left.

But I decided to carry on. Be confident yaar..confident.

Oh what a brainy girl..you deserve to be in the IIT :P

No thanks. I am happy this way. And hey btw.. how did u find out that I would be doing engineering too??

Oh..that..Its only natural for anyone to jump into engineering after 12th standard right? Especially for girls..enroll in some engineering college.. slog for 4 years... outperform the boys.. draw margins in assignments.. submit assignments a day in advance.. block 2-3 jobs when the guys struggle to get one.. and then finally give up the jobs to marry some rich guy from America.. this is the life-routine for most girls in India right? :P

Ooooohh.. why dont you give some figures about how many girls take up engineering... how many go on to get jobs.. how many get married to some American? That would be pretty interesting..:P

You think I am some information centre or what? ;) Yaar I am weak in those statistics!

LOL. You are a funny guy. Anyways.. i got to go.. nice convo after a long time.. bye tc

It was indeed a nice convo, not after a long time - but for the first time. I just realised that I had spent almost the entire morning session in messaging her. There are a few ways to check if your 'session' went well - First, you should lose track of time. Second and most important: you should not remember what you spoke. I succeeded in both and found myself smiling - for no reason.

*****************

The next few weeks saw me completely addicted to my mobile phone. I took it everywhere I went. Literally everywhere. You usually have an entire lifetime to waste when you are in an engineering college and I made maximum use of it. My daily routine was simple:

1. Wake up in the morning and either send or receive messages like :

Morning Coolness,
Rising Sun,
Singing Birds,
Melting Dew,
Along With This
Little Heart
Wishing You A Very
Glorious Good Morning.

2. Go to class and continue messaging

3. Go for lunch.

4. Send/receive messages like :

Give laugh to all but smile to ONE.
Give love to all but heart to ONE.
Give life to all but live for ONE..
Have a cool evening.

5. Continue messaging

6. Continue messaging

7. Send/ Receive messages like:

In this lovely night,
I pray to the sweet moon to protect you through the night,
The wind to blow away your worries,
and,
the twinkle stars to guide you the way,
Sweet dreams and Good Night.

Abey raat me 2 baje kise message kar raha hai(Who the hell are u messaging at 2 am in night)? Amit, my roomie asked me suddenly.

Taken aback, I stuttered and replied Not messaging be.. playing a game on the phone.. not getting sleep so just killing time

Ooooho.. sounds very convincing.. show me your phone.. I'll also play the game.. even am unable to sleep

Battery low boss.. got switched off just now.. gonna sleep now..gnite, I said and immediately deleted my inbox.

There was no way I could tell my friends what I was up to. There are some drawbacks of that ;)

Hey.. gotta go now..i'll be dead if my friends find out i'm messaging a girl so late in the night..dont ask me why.. thats how these idiots are in hostels :(.. do not reply.. i've deleted my inbox.. will msg you tomo.. gud nite! I sent her an SMS before sleeping.

The addiction got worse each day. I ignored food, I ignored sleep, I ignored my studies. All I cared in life was the SMS from her. I succeeded in almost everything - I got to know about her, I got to know about Rahul, I made her get addicted to her mobile as much as I was to mine. But there were a few questions which I couldnt find answers to. Firstly, is this love? Secondly, is she a bad figure or good one? Thirdly, how and when am I going to tell her the truth?

The second question didnt really matter because I was too addicted to her anyways. The only problems seemed to be the 1st and 3rd questions, and there was only one way I was going to find answers to those - ignore her. Time would solve my confusions, I thought and started ignoring her. Yes, I decided to stop sending or replying to her messages from then on.

It was easier said that done though. My hands would itch to grab the mobile and send her a message - especially when I was sitting bored in a stupid lecture. The first 2-3 days were very extremely difficult. I would get a forward or two from her, which I read and ignored. If the first few days were difficult, the next 2-3 were unbearable.

Hey.. wassup?, Hey..too busy or what? showing off that you are an IIT-an to me huh? Thought you were not one of those nerds? ;) , This is why I HATE IIT!. These were a few messages that I got from her. She would never receive a reply.

A week passed, and it was getting clearer to me that I couldnt live without her. The first question was answered. Call it love. Cal it friendship. Call it whatever. I wanted to talk to her. But the week also taught me an important thing - that I cant continue this for long. I HAD to tell her the truth. But how could I suddenly give her such a shock? What if she stops talking to me? What if she goes to the cops? A million questions ran through my mind when my phone beeped.

Hi.. look I dont know what happened to you all of a sudden.. its been a while since you contacted me.. I dont understand why you are avoiding me..but let me tell you one thing.. I dont think I can be normal without  messaging you..I dont know what else to say.. all I can say is plzzz reply! Miss u :(

I was happy and sad. I was happy that she missed me. I was sad that I had put her through this. An important question had just been answered. She indeed felt the same way I did. But there was an important and unanswered question. How will she react when I tell her the truth? After all, I was neither Rahul nor an IIT-an. Continue acting - told a part of me. Tell her the truth, said another. I decided not to think. I took my phone, closed my eyes and typed as fast as I could.

Look Ankita.. I have a confession to make.. I dont know how to say this. I am not the guy who you think I am. I am not Rahul. My name is Arun Kumar. I do not study in IIT. I am just another engineering student in just another engineering college like you. I realised the very first day you messaged me that I was not the intended recipient but decided to carry on. I know I was being cheap, but I didnt think it was wrong. It started as a timepass thing but it became much more than that over the weeks.. I dunno if you are fair. I dunno if u r fat. I dunno if u r good looking. I dunno if u r ugly. But I do know that I dont care. All I care about is YOU. And yes, I do know that I love you. You can choose to swear at me. You can choose to reject me. You can choose to accept me. But please do not choose to ignore me....(i dont know what smiley to use).....

I sent the message. I didnt bother to read it again. My eyes remained close till I heard the next beep.

Look Arun. I too have a confession to make.. I dont know how to say this. I am not the girl who you think I am. Dude, I am not Ankita. I am Amit - your roomie. Please come immediately to the next room.. all of us are waiting for you :D :D :D

Forget Setting Goals. Focus on This Instead.

We all have things that we want to achieve in our lives -- getting into the better shape, building a successful business, raising a wonderful family, writing a best-selling book, winning a championship, and so on.
And for most of us, the path to those things starts by setting a specific and actionable goal. At least, this is how I approached my life until recently. I would set goals for classes I took, for weights that I wanted to lift in the gym, and for clients I wanted in my business.
What I'm starting to realize, however, is that when it comes to actually getting things done and making progress in the areas that are important to you, there is a much better way to do things.
It all comes down to the difference between goals and systems.
Let me explain.

The Difference Between Goals and Systems

What's the difference between goals and systems?
  • If you're a coach, your goal is to win a championship. Your system is what your team does at practice each day.
  • If you're a writer, your goal is to write a book. Your system is the writing schedule that you follow each week.
  • If you're a runner, your goal is to run a marathon. Your system is your training schedule for the month.
  • If you're an entrepreneur, your goal is to build a million dollar business. Your system is your sales and marketing process.
Now for the really interesting question:
If you completely ignored your goals and focused only on your system, would you still get results?

For example, if you were a basketball coach and you ignored your goal to win a championship and focused only on what your team does at practice each day, would you still get results?
I think you would.
As an example, I just added up the total word count for the articles I've written this year. (You can see them all here.) In the last 12 months, I've written over 115,000 words. The typical book is about 50,000 to 60,000 words, so I have basically written two books this year.
All of this is such a surprise because I never set a goal for my writing. I didn't measure my progress in relation to some benchmark. I never set a word count goal for any particular article. I never said, "I want to write two books this year."
What I did focus on was writing one article every Monday and Thursday. And after sticking to that schedule for 11 months, the result was 115,000 words. I focused on my system and the process of doing the work. In the end, I enjoyed the same (or perhaps better) results.
Let's talk about three more reasons why you should focus on systems instead of goals.

1. Goals reduce your current happiness.

When you're working toward a goal, you are essentially saying, "I'm not good enough yet, but I will be when I reach my goal."
The problem with this mindset is that you're teaching yourself to always put happiness and success off until the next milestone is achieved. "Once I reach my goal, then I'll be happy. Once I achieve my goal, then I'll be successful."
SOLUTION: Commit to a process, not a goal.
Choosing a goal puts a huge burden on your shoulders. Can you imagine if I had made it my goal to write two books this year? Just writing that sentence stresses me out.
But we do this to ourselves all the time. We place unnecessary stress on ourselves to lose weight or to succeed in business or to write a best-selling novel. Instead, you can keep things simple and reduce stress by focusing on the daily process and sticking to your schedule, rather than worrying about the big, life-changing goals.
When you focus on the practice instead of the performance, you can enjoy the present moment and improve at the same time.

2. Goals are strangely at odds with long-term progress.

You might think your goal will keep you motivated over the long-term, but that's not always true.
Consider someone training for a half-marathon. Many people will work hard for months, but as soon as they finish the race, they stop training. Their goal was to finish the half-marathon and now that they have completed it, that goal is no longer there to motivate them. When all of your hard work is focused on a particular goal, what is left to push you forward after you achieve it?
This can create a type of "yo-yo effect" where people go back and forth from working on a goal to not working on one. This type of cycle makes it difficult to build upon your progress for the long-term.
SOLUTION: Release the need for immediate results.
I was training at the gym last week and I was doing my second-to-last set of clean and jerks. When I hit that rep, I felt a small twinge in my leg. It wasn't painful or an injury, just a sign of fatigue near the end of my workout. For a minute or two, I thought about doing my final set. Then, I reminded myself that I plan to do this for the rest of my life and decided to call it a day.

In a situation like the one above, a goal-based mentality will tell you to finish the workout and reach your goal. After all, if you set a goal and you don't reach it, then you feel like a failure.
But with a systems-based mentality, I had no trouble moving on. Systems-based thinking is never about hitting a particular number, it's about sticking to the process and not missing workouts.
Of course, I know that if I never miss a workout, then I will lift bigger weights in the long-run. And that's why systems are more valuable than goals. Goals are about the short-term result. Systems are about the long-term process. In the end, process always wins.

3. Goals suggest that you can control things that you have no control over.

You can't predict the future. (I know, shocking.)
But every time we set a goal, we try to do it. We try to plan out where we will be and when we will make it there. We try to predict how quickly we can make progress, even though we have no idea what circumstances or situations will arise along the way.
SOLUTION: Build feedback loops.
Each Friday, I spend 15 minutes filling out a small spreadsheet with the most critical metrics for my business. For example, in one column I calculate the conversion rate (the percentage of website visitors that join my free email newsletter each week). I rarely think about this number, but checking that column each week provides a feedback loop that tells me if I'm doing things right. When that number drops, I know that I need to send high quality traffic to my site.
Feedback loops are important for building good systems because they allow you to keep track of many different pieces without feeling the pressure to predict what is going to happen with everything. Forget about predicting the future and build a system that can signal when you need to make adjustments.

Fall In Love With Systems

None of this is to say that goals are useless. However, I've found that goals are good for planning your progress and systems are good for actually making progress.
In fact, I think I'm going to officially declare 2014 the "Year of the Sloth" so that everyone will be forced to slow down and make consistent, methodical progress rather than chasing sexy goals for a few weeks and then flaming out.
Goals can provide direction and even push you forward in the short-term, but eventually a well-designed system will always win. Having a system is what matters. Committing to the process is what makes the difference.

How Do You Block a Penalty Kick?

In Saturday’s World Cup match between Brazil and Chile, it came down to penalty kicks. If neither team is ahead after two extra 15 minute time periods, each team gets 5 penalty kicks. The team that scores the most of these 5 wins the match. Brazil won. Oh, was that a spoiler? No, it can’t be. Surely you know the score by now.
It seems pretty tough to stop one of these penalty kicks. How about a quick analysis?

How Fast is a Kick?

Of course, there isn’t a perfect side angle view of these penalty kicks. This means that it would be difficult to get a trajectory of the ball. However, I don’t really need that. I only need an estimate of the speed. Since I know the ball starts 12 yards from the goal, I can find the velocity by measuring the time of flight. Yes, these things go pretty fast. I find it’s easiest to use Tracker Video Analysis just to get the start and end time of the kick.
Using this method, I get the following speeds. Note that this is just an estimate because if the ball is kicked at an angle it actually goes farther to goal line than just 12 yards.
  • Kick 1: 24.94 m/s
  • Kick 2: 39.18 m/s
  • Kick 3: 17.9 m/s
  • Kick 4: 30.47 m/s
  • Kick 5: 39.18 m/s
  • Kick 6: 30.47 m/s
  • Kick 7: 34.28 m/s
  • Kick 8: 24.42 m/s
  • Kick 9: 24.93 m/s
  • Kick 10: 30.47 m/s
This gives an average kick speed of about 30 m/s. Really, the video I used was mostly on the crappy side so that these numbers cold be off.

Reaction of a Keeper

Really, not the reaction. I am thinking of the acceleration of a keeper (goalie). Here is a plot of the position of a keeper during a kick. In this case, he starts his move 0.2 seconds before the ball is actually kicked.
He seems to have a fairly constant acceleration of about 5.26 m/s2. So, if he starts in the center of the goal, how long will it take him to reach one side of the goal? A goal is 7.32 meters wide so this means he must travel 3.66 meters. Since he starts from a speed of zero, I can jsut use one of the kinematic equations.
La te xi t 1
With a final x position of 3.66 meters and an acceleration of 5.26 m/s2, I get a time of 1.18 seconds.
If I used a distance of 12 yards for a ball with the lowest speed of 17.9 m/s, that gives a time of travel at just 0.61 seconds.

How to Block a Kick

Now for the important point. How do you stop these kicks? The answer is simple: guess. Guess which way the ball is going to be kicked and move that way after the kicker has already determined his kick direction. It’s just that simple.
Oh, but what if the keeper had a greater acceleration? Let’s double it and make it 10.52 m/s2. This would still give a time of 0.83 seconds to get to the side of the goal. Not good enough.
But maybe guessing would work. According to this site, 85% of the penalty kicks are successful goals. So, if you guess and get just one block you could consider yourself (as a keeper) successful.
