Theories I: Packets in the Pocket

My brother had many hobbies. "Creating theories" is one them which fascinated me. Our interest topics were almost same, but views were always against each other. Recent one was "Quantum". His view was life, world, nature everything follows Quantum. Everything in the universe & the universe itself behaves like packets. But this view disturbed me. I couldn't tolerate imagining everything like packet.

I said, "Life is a race, you have to keep one step & next step and so on. Nonstop, it's continuous."

He said, "Look, life not about how fast you can walk, it's about how far you have to walk. Every step is a packet; they are so close that, continuity is imitated. One step is a packet, next one also a packet. They take you forward. Everything in life comes in packages, goes in packages. It's evident that life has Quantum edge."

I was rebellious, "For me life is very large set, Quantum is a tiny set."

He replied, "No, Quantum and life both are big sets. But they are overlapped and their union is almost equal to their intersection. For someone like you, or one who is in different frame, may find null set as the intersection. This is uncertainty; it's both curse and beauty of Quantum."

I thought for a while, then attacked, "okay, then world or the universe must be universal set. It can't be a packet. It's whole. I don't know how to convey. But I can't look the universe as a packet. It's nowhere from one side & nowhere to other."

Brother, being film lover, said, "again no, it's packet. This is our world in our timeline. There may be other worlds out there in different timeline, which can be evident from 'catastrophic theories'. Watch movie 'Inception', it deals about the world being a dream i.e. dream becoming the reality for oneself. You may be in your dream now, or dream within a dream, or in a limbo. You may be dreaming somewhere in more real world. These dreams are in the form of packets. Another movie 'Dark City' puts in another theory in which, upper or more real world is itself a shadow, a forgery. But world built of pieces of worlds. Confusing? Yeah, those pieces are called quanta; building blocks of Quantum."

I interfered, "but movies like 'Matrix' says the world is computer programmed one."

He said, "You are indirectly supporting me. Movies like 'Thirteenth Floor', 'Matrix' says this world may be one the thousands of virtual worlds, which may be programmed by some other world creatures outside of this simulation. Those virtual worlds are symbolic to packet. Watch movies, they can help you to understand any topic more efficiently."

I was losing; I wanted to change the plate. But I was falling. I countered, "Anyway, I surrender. But Einstein was too disturbed about the rise of Quantum concepts. You are great admirer of Einstein and you have passion towards the Quantum. How can you resolve the paradox within?"

He thought for a while, then smiled and quoted, "Of course, your point is valid. Me too in a fix about this question. I don't know how or what to reply you. But I am the living answer. I'm the one of example for co-existence of general relativity and Quantum concepts in one packet. I may be the one of the packet among many other out there."

Being fed up of term 'packet', I scolded "Will you kick out the word 'packet' and replace it with 'quanta'?"

He laughed out loud, "You are in possible correct way. You are inclining towards Quantum. As John Wheeler famously put it: Mass tells space-time how to curve, and space-time tells mass how to move. Now you are telling Quantum to curve towards you and Quantum is telling you to move towards it."

Awestruck by his remark, I said, "okay, I accept. I'm getting inclined. Now, one last question. Quiet philosophical one. How the Quantum fits in the concepts of achievement, success and resulting happiness?"

His words were "okay good. At first, if you want to go to the statue of liberty from Paris, you will do it step by step right? Taking visa, purchasing ticket, boarding, walking staying etc and finally in front of the statue of liberty. You just can't jump or teleport from Eiffel tower to New York. But after doing all by step by step, you will be in front of your destination. One of the happiest moments for you. This 'step by step' indicates packets…. sorry quanta, which I mentioned in first answer. Just understand."

I understood. But still hungry. Albeit, I said it was my last question, I kept on asking more questions regarding Quantum-love-friendship, Quantum-birth-death etc whole night. He answered most of them, but without spoon feeding. There were many voids which allowed me to think for myself.

The more success the quantum theory has, the sillier it looks.
